To maintain an active license, cosmetologists, nail technicians, and estheticians are required to complete 4 hours of board-approved continuing education every two years. HAIR BRAIDER LICENSE – south carolina
A person (AGES 14 & UP) who wants to provide hair braider services. As defined by statute, “”Hair braiding” means techniques that result in tension on hair strands, such as twisting, wrapping, weaving, extending, locking, or braiding of the hair, by hand or mechanical appliances for compensation, without cutting, coloring, relaxing, removing, chemically treating, or using other preparations to straighten, curl, or alter the structure of the hair.”
To become a certified hair braider in South Carolina, you must submit an application to the SC Board of Barber Examiners, pay a $25 fee, complete a 6-hour approved health and sanitation course, and pass a 70% exam. Registration is valid for two years. This process is required for natural hair braiding, which includes techniques like locking, braiding, twisting, and wrapping without chemicals.
