ABOUT Y.E.P. TRAINING PROGRAM:
Black Girl Beauty Youth Employment Program (B.G.B.Y.E.P.) prepares students to achieve success through innovative partnerships and unique job readiness experiences. We help students meet both their personal and educational goals as they embark on their unique careers. The (B.G.B.YE.P.) training is designed to work hand-in-hand with our apprenticeship programs, teaching the business sides of the trades and everything that keeps it going; focusing on entrepreneurship, credit, finance, careers, relationships and personal development while working on the job training in unique talents that enhance and help grow the personal trades business.
Black Girl Beauty Youth Employment Program (B.G.B.Y.E.P.) was created in affiliation with Black Girl Beauty National Association, which brings together beauty, performing arts, audio engineering, construction and other nationwide business organizations. These dynamic partnerships help participants overcome barriers to employment like disabilities, homelessness, foster care, low incomes, teen parenting and/or criminal backgrounds and make the connection between education and work. Black Girl Beauty Foundation’s staff and affiliate partners work with participants of the B.G.B.Y.E.P. programs to set career goals and equip them with the necessary skills to enter the workforce.
Their curriculum and network of industry supporters provides unique opportunities for participants. The program offers direct entry into participants’ chosen field of study. The (B.G.B.Y.E.P.) is a comprehensive 120-hour apprenticeship-readiness program which makes it easier for participants to transition into apprenticeship and job opportunities. We focus on teaching the business and financial side of the trades. Participants can also receive 10 hours of training for OSHA, First Aid, and CPR certifications. Additionally, our career center, which houses five state-of-the art occupations, allows our students to develop a skill that can be transferred into any of the unique trades that we offer for them to pursue.
In addition to curricular opportunities, B.G.B.Y.E.P. participants are also provided access to numerous personal and community experiences. Through our community partnerships, we look forward to helping our participants learn life skills and the business side of entrepreneurship. They experienced the classroom, the hands-on through our pre-apprenticeship programs. But through our employment programs they get to learn the business side in depth.
It is the combination of our curriculum and our network of partners which allows B.G.B.Y.E.P. to build brighter futures and ensure that our graduates have the tools to achieve lifelong personal and professional success.
